Holy Week 2020 Online retreat
To "register" please email Mia to get all updates and posts.
Holy Week is that time beginning with Palm Sunday (Apr 5) extending through Maundy Thursday (Apr 9), Good Friday (Apr 10) and Holy Saturday (Apr 11). It is a time when we walk the story of Jesus' entrance to Jerusalem until his death and burial in the tomb.

Plan on 1.5-3 hours each day for this retreat, giving yourself time and space to deeply enter the story of God's profound and transforming love for us.

Each day will include:
Download: link to bulletin for the liturgy
Watch: video of the day's liturgy
Reflect: journaling time
Do: 2-3 things to do, some geared for adults and some geared for children
Share: at 4pm join a video conference call each day
Pray: make time for personal prayer
Get Ready

1. Download the coloring pages and print. Print one set for each person who would like them.

2. Set up a sacred space in your home. Here are some ideas from Deaconess Kat:

1. Lay a white cloth over a table, ideally one that will cover all or most of the table. This could be a tablecloth, a sheet, a scarf, a large napkin, towels, a pillowcase, or even a plain white T-shirt; whatever cloth you have on hand.
2. Lay a purple or red cloth over the center of the table on top of the white cloth. This should be a bit smaller than the white cloth so that you can still see the white cloth underneath the purple or red one. Perhaps you have a red potholder or purple bandana. Use whatever you have in your home.

3. Set your table by placing household items that are important elements of your faith or that represent an image of God for you. These could be your Bible, a hymnal, and a cross. You may wish to include a favorite plant, a special bookmark, a small piece of religious artwork or an item that contains a special blessing. You could write out a favorite Bible verse or words from a favorite song or hymn.
4. If you have a large table, you may choose to set your bowl of water, towel(s), and oil on the table.
5. Place a candle or two on the table. You may choose to light these at the beginning of the worship service.

3. Plan on when you'll do the different pieces of the retreat. We recommend:
in the morning:
1) download and print the bulletin,
2) Watch liturgy,
3) journal
in the afternoon:
1) do one or more activities,
2) Join video conference call at 4pm
in the evening:
1) spend 10-15 minutes in private prayer
